    About the YouTube Revenue Calculator

YouTube ad revenue is generated through Google AdSense ads displayed on your videos. Advertisers pay Google for ad impressions and clicks; Google keeps 45% and pays creators the remaining 55%. The amount you earn per video depends on three factors: total views, the percentage of views that are monetized, and your RPM (Revenue Per Mille — revenue per 1,000 views).

To join the YouTube Partner Program (YPP), you need 1,000 subscribers AND either 4,000 public watch hours in the past 12 months OR 10 million Shorts views. Once in YPP, you can enable ads on your videos and begin earning AdSense revenue.

RPM varies significantly by niche: Finance/Business: $8–$20+. Legal/Insurance: $15–$30+. Health/Medical: $8–$15. Education: $5–$12. Technology: $6–$12. Gaming: $2–$5. Entertainment/Vlogging: $1–$4. Beauty/Fashion: $3–$6. These ranges reflect what advertisers in each niche pay for ad space — finance advertisers pay more because they're reaching a high-income audience interested in financial products.

Q4 (October–December) is the highest RPM period due to holiday advertising spending. Many creators earn 30–50% more per view during Q4 than in January.

Beyond AdSense: Most successful creators earn the majority of their income from multiple streams: sponsored content (brand deals), channel memberships, merchandise, affiliate links, course sales, and Patreon. Ad revenue alone is rarely sustainable as a primary income source below 500K+ monthly views in most niches. Diversification dramatically increases income stability.

Key metric to track: CPM (what advertisers pay) vs RPM (what you actually receive). RPM is always lower — typically 30–50% of CPM — because not all views are monetized (ad blockers, ineligible regions, skipped ads) and YouTube takes 45%.

    Formula Used
    Ad Revenue = (Monetized Views ÷ 1,000) × RPM · Monetized Views ≈ Total Views × 45%

YouTube pays creators 55% of ad revenue (keeping 45%). Not every view is monetized — some viewers use ad blockers, some are ineligible regions, some skip ads. Typical monetization rate is 40–60% of views.

    Example Calculations

    Finance channel · 100K views/month · $12 RPM

    Ad revenue ≈ $540/month · $6,480/year

    Gaming channel · 500K views/month · $2.50 RPM

    Ad revenue ≈ $562/month · $6,750/year

    1M views/month · $5 RPM + $3K sponsorships

    Total ≈ $5,250/month · $63K/year
